Meet the Team: Candice!
We couldn’t do what we do here at Baseline Village Dental Hygiene without our amazing team. It’s been a while since we introduced everyone, so we thought what better way to get to know everyone than with a Q&A?! Up first- Candice, Owner & RDH.
What made you decide to be a dental hygienist?
I started my career in dental as an assistant in 2001. I was irrationally afraid of the dentist my entire life (cried before getting my teeth cleaned) but there was this dental assistant at the office I went to that always held my hand and told me not to worry. I just wanted to be her. I quickly realized I could help patients more in dental hygiene so I switched careers.
What’s your favourite part of being a hygienist?
Educating people on their oral health. When a patient tells me "I have never been told this", I feel like I am doing my job.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a hygienist?
I honestly hate this question because I have no idea. I am doing what I love (cliche) and can't imagine doing anything else. Maybe teaching dental hygiene? But ask Bri...that wouldn't be great for anyone.
What is your number one oral health tip?
Floss. Just do it! It takes 30 seconds and will change your life.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I can't wink. It's embarrassing.
What's your favourite guilty pleasure food that may not be the best for your teeth?
Chocolate. Especially if there is peanut butter involved.
When you’re not at the clinic, what are you likely doing?
Hanging out with my kids doing nothing. We live for pajama days.
What show are you currently binge watching?
"Younger" on Prime. It's about a 40 year old pretending to be 26. I feel like I could pull this off.
Once life gets back to normal after the pandemic, what is the first thing you’ll do?
Get on a plane and go somewhere with a beach. I miss smelling the ocean...and sunscreen.
