Now that Oral Health Month has come to an end, we thought it would be the perfect time to recap everything we got up to celebrating National Dental Hygienists Week this year! If you’re not familiar with this campaign, the goal is to spread the importance of maintaining good oral health practices within our community.

To kick off the week we participated in Gift from the Heart, an event where Canadian independent dental hygienists offer their services for free to people in need. We were so happy to be a part of this RDH movement and welcome new patients into the clinic for cleanings!

Another initiative we support during NDHW is visiting local schools to teach kids how to care for their teeth. From brushing technique to nutrition tips, it’s never too early to start teaching good oral health habits!

Oral cancers often go unnoticed at first because they can develop without pain or symptoms. But, if the cancer is detected early and before it has spread to other tissues, it can usually be treated successfully. Because regular checks can reduce the risk of illness, we offered free oral cancer screenings for NDHW.

To wrap up this amazing week, we spent some time at the Sherwood Park Trade Fair spreading our passion for dental hygiene! We gave away toothbrushes, sold some of our favourite products and had a draw with a pretty epic prize!

To sum it all up, it was an inspirational week full of dental hygiene purple pride as we educated our community on the importance of good oral hygiene. We had so much fun and already can’t wait until next year!
